Library Assistant, Part Time
Littleton Public Library is seeking a qualified applicant to fill our part-time Library Assistant position. The Library Assistant facilitates the Interlibrary Loan program: borrowing items for our patrons from other libraries and fulfilling requests to other libraries. This is primarily a public service position that requires a good portion of time on the service desk each day providing high quality patron services including circulating materials, assisting patrons with finding items, computer support, and more. The successful applicant is subject to a criminal background check.
- Manage all aspects of the interlibrary loan program, from borrowing, lending, tracking of overdues, and preparing statistics.
- Work at the service desk part of each day providing circulation, reference, reader’s advisory, and computer use assistance to library patrons.
- Responsible for shelving and discarding newspapers
- Prepare and send monthly notices to patrons with items overdue
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree a plus. Prior library experience and/or customer service experience preferred. Proficiency with computers required, including Microsoft Office Suite products and internet searching.
PT position 16-23 hours a week. Includes evening and rotating Saturday hours. Paid vacation and holidays.
Saturday: 8:30-4 (every other)
Starting wage $13.00/hour

Part Time Janitor Position
Littleton Public Library seeks experienced janitor to work mornings ten hours a week. Ideal schedule would be 8:30a.m. to 10:30a.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Some flexibility may be possible. The janitor, under the supervision of the library director, is responsible for the cleaning and light maintenance on all three floors of the library. This is a very physical job which requires walking, bending, pushing/pulling, climbing stairs and step ladders, and lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
Daily tasks include: empty trash and recycling containers, place recyclables and trash in janitor’s closet, vacuum carpets and floors, clean restrooms and replenish supplies, clean glass doors.
Weekly tasks include: remove trash and recyclables from janitor’s closet and place in outdoor trash bin, dust woodwork and stairs, wash floors and walls where needed.
Seasonal/Occasional tasks include: change light bulbs, inform library director when supplies need to be reordered, remove snow from trash bin area, salt/sand library walkways and trash bin area, refill indoor sand/salt containers, monitor water in boiler and adjust as necessary, assist director or staff with moving furniture or boxes, other building-related occasional tasks or projects as needed.
10 hours a week. Starting wage $13.00/hour.
